This Week in Workouts: A Week of Running

This Week in Workouts: A Week of Running
This Week in Workouts: A Week of Running

{via}

So, did anyone else notice a strange lack of post on Friday? Me too. Turns out that the article I wrote ahead of time and scheduled to publish did not actually get scheduled to publish. By the time I noticed (Friday was quite the busy day), it was far too late to post anything of use to anyone. Instead, that post will be up next week for your internet perusal and viewing enjoyment. For now though, we can talk about this week and the not one, but two 4-mile runs I went on.

Running outdoors in Michigan is one of my favorite things to do, even though the hills are completely butchering my run times... I am currently 2-minutes slower than my average time without hills. Whaatt?!!? Now I understand why so few run the San Francisco Marathon.

Other than running, we were able to visit this awesome restaurant in Grand Rapids which was quite awesome. The whole place is HUGE with beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. I wanted to sit outside but it is Michigan in the summer and everyone else had the same thought I did. Instead, we sat inside and got to listen to The Mainstays, a 90's reggae band that was playing while we were there. Afterwards we were able to walk around Grand Rapids, in the Amway Grand Plaza (most beautiful hotel ever), and over four bridges spanning the Grand River. Yea, we got our steps in that day!

The days of the week got a bit jumbled in my mind this week. Although I know what workouts I did, I have absolutely no clue which days they were done on. Yes, there were three days of running, two runs were 4-miles and one was 2.5. There was yoga on one day and bum workouts on another (all links to videos listed below). My main break day was the one with lots of walking, and I am not sure about the other day of the week... It went into a black whole where some of my memories seem to find themselves. Maybe I ran, maybe I did another workout, or maybe I sat at my computer watching YouTube videos where the only workout was the formation of my laughter. Who knows.

Hopefully though, I will remember to log all my workouts next week so this silly day-missing does not happen again. If you have any ideas what I did on this lost day, I would be so happy to hear them. Your guess is, quite literally, just as good as mine :)

The first bum workout I did. Pretty great! I was definitely feeling it by the end and this one turned out to be a great warm-up for the next. I would definitely recommend doing these two together!

The second bum workout I did. This Cassey Ho workout has been featured on the blog before, mainly because I just love it.

This yoga flow was my first time following anything by Leslie Fightmaster. Really, the main reason it caught my eye was her name- someone on yoga being names "Fightmaster" just makes me laugh :) But seriously, this King Pigeon flow is great!

Yoga for Super Hero Strength came next. Because really, is a home workout complete without some Tara Stiles?

This is just my apology for skimping on posts this week and letting my brain fall into a black hole where no memories of workouts can be found. Happy Sunday!

This Week in Workouts: Goal!!!!

Tree pose on the beach

This week has been both an incredibly accomplishing week, and, at the same time, a pretty slow week for workouts. First off, Wednesday was, hands down, the most traffic P+K has ever gotten! It was great; every hour was nearly twice as many views than we usually get in one day, and it never seemed to end. I have no idea why Wednesday was so incredible, but it was awesome.

This week has also been pretty great on the yoga front. I completed two hot power flows with my new favorite yoga instructor, Angela Mynatt, at Body Heat Yoga. She is awesome. These were great and my arms are soooo sore. But, the handstand now has a check-mark next to it and so does this pose. Awesome. And sore. So sore.

Oh, and I also found this show by Tara Stiles. It is so fun and I must try her vegan mac and cheese recipe. Like right now.

Today we are also going to see the Ski-a-rees here in Sarasota with my Dad and step-mom and grabbing some lunch before-hand. The weather has been perfect and I have been wanting to see these awesome performers since I learned they were here (and have been for like 30-years). Tonight will also be the return of Once Upon and Time and I am soo excited!!! Anyone else on team Hook? I totally am. But now, to the workouts! And some lazy kittehs....

Caturday- lazy kittehs

Workouts

Sunday: Rest day :)

Monday: 2-mile interval workout followed by a 10-minute Ballet Yoga fusion arm workout that I will be adding soon!

Tuesday: Hot Power Flow that was perfect! Also mastered this pose that day :D

Wednesday: Rest day :)

Thursday: This 30-minute advanced yoga flow that was a great home flow for those wanting to push themselves.

Friday: A quick 10-minute Ballet Yoga fusion for arms and this Ballet Workout for The Bum. That night we also went to the book launch party of our friend's new book Epic of Haven: The Great Darkening. It is an epic book and I am just so happy that we have been able to be a part of it!! Also, you can download it here for freeee! But also buy the hardcover, it is worth it.

Saturday: 90-minute hot power flow that was the best thing ever. I then went home, ate lunch, and took a nap. Yea, Saturday was pretty great!

This Week in Workouts: All Mixed Up

by Jenni in Fitness

This last week in workouts was a bit more mixed up than usual, but it sure did workout (pun intended) great! There was plenty of yoga and a new workout or two as well. I am still in search of the studio where I would like to complete my yoga teacher certification, but feel like I'm getting closer. What would be the best is if my hot yoga studio had teacher training, but alas, they do not.

This week I will be trying a new aerial yoga location that has teacher training and certifies for hot yoga as well! Their curriculum seems like the most intense yet, and that kind of makes me like them all the more. I cannot wait to try this place out, everything seems great about it, except when the actual teacher training is... Some things may have to be changed around to get it to work, so we will see!

Sunday: Rest day where we went to a wonderful seafood place that we tend to go once a year and I gorge myself on all things food!

Monday: 4.5 mile run followed by headstand work to work off Sunday's gluttony.

Tuesday: Rest day

Wednesday: This incredible 20-minute workout that I will be doing again and again and again, followed by aerial yoga with my sister-in-law. Aerial yoga alone is great, but it is way better with friends! The pic above was taken by Melody after class. Side note: both of these together made my bum sore for days!

Thursday: 3-mile jog followed by headstand work

Friday: The Cassey Ho Legs on Fire workout followed by this core yoga flow and then more Tara Stile inversion work intermediate and advanced. All of these were great and the core flow made me feel like a baby seal flosping around on the floor- still deciding whether that is good are bad.

Saturday: Nutrition Ella's workout of the week which was fantastic and I finished in just over 17:30 followed by Cassey Ho's Hard Core Ab Workout. Will be doing Nutrition Ella's again for sure!!!

This Week in Workouts

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope that your weekend has been fantastic and that any of those in this Polar Vortex have managed to stay toasty warm around a wonderful fire. This week has been (yet another) yoga-centric week. Thankfully though, it seems like I have finally kicked whatever has been making me feel like complete crap and am now looking forward to a super great next week filled with lots of fun catch-up work and reading and cardio! I have also come to the conclusion that running more than 4-miles on a treadmill is physically impossible since I will die of boredom before 4.1 hits. This means that the next couple of weeks will be filled with outdoor running and explorations of great jogging spots in my area.

Yesterday was also my Mom's birthday, so, happy birthday Mom!

Since this last week was half spent feeling great and half spent not, the week was a bit lighter on the jogging but overflowed in the fun department with about a billion workouts that I have never done before. The best part is that I absolutely loved almost all of them!

Sunday:  My first ever aerial yoga class where I was super stoked about being able to complete all the inversion posses. Whoop Whoop!

Monday: This tabata workout by Pumps and Iron, except, I only did 8 reps of each. If you are not quite sure what tabata is, you can read all about it here.

Tuesday: Rest Day

Wednesday: 2.5-mile run followed by a bridge workout that I will have to post sometime soon... Ohh, buns so sore!!!

Thursday: The Ballet Bum workout followed by part I and part II of Tara Stiles' Intense Cardio Workout. Funny, but it has been a week or so since doing the ballet bum workout and I forgot how sore it made me! Loved both of these together!!!

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: This Snapguide Workout for the core by Glenn Hole and the 200 Reps Abs Core Power Yoga Vinyasa by Ali K. Both of these were fantastic! Glenn's workout was a great warm-up and a fantastic intro core workout for those new to core workouts. Doing Ali's 200 reps for core after this was fantastic, although I did feel it more in my legs and arms by the end.
